Adventure Abroad

We are so blessed and fortunate to have had such wonderful adventures in Oklahoma with the bus. At this time it is currently in storage as we found ourself with an opportunity of a lifetime in Australia for the next few years. Excited to get back to the adventures when we are back but for now the bus is no longer available to rent.

Happy Adventures!

Story of our VW camper--"the never ending honeymoon!"

This is our 1971 Volkswagen Wesfalia Camper. When my husband and I were first married we were both serving in the United States Air Force. We had both graduated from the United States Air Force Academy but at different times (he in ‘11, myself in ‘12). When we wed, we were assigned to different bases with limited opportunity to take leave. Without any details or dates to plan a trip, we joked we would buy a classic VW bus and the adventure of finding and then owning one would be our “never ending honeymoon!”

We had a budget (under $5k), a type (VW bus), and condition (minimal rust/running). We knew it was lofty goals, we purposely made it almost impossible because it was meant to again be a dreamy distraction. Not even 2 months of searching, Craigslist came through in the form of a very non-tech savy hippie in Austin, TX who thought we were the first to reply to his ad (we were top of a very long list) & the rest….makes for a fun story over beer by a bus ;)
